"Foolish Games" ft. Erik Pulverenti

Alt textErik is a video wizard. If there’s a top 10 to be made or a highlight to spruce up, he’s the guy to see. He’s done it all for the Huskers and Aggies, and they’ve both had a history of doing okay, so we brought that good vibe back to the Good Life.

Now he’s in charge of making our media a big deal. From game day to Signing Day, he makes sure reels are watched, because making our athletes look like pros is serious business.

“I was born and raised in Omaha, Neb., where I attended Millard North High School. My older brother lives in Omaha and is the proud father of my first nephew, two-year-old Kyler. My younger brother, Scott, lives in Lincoln and works for Hudl. His most redeeming quality is that he was blessed with my good looks. I loved playing all sports growing up – football, soccer, basketball, baseball and wrestling. I played football in high school as an undersized wide receiver and strong safety, but I believe I had the best hands on the team. Despite having a broken hand for most of my senior year, I was still on the front line of the ‘hands team’.

“I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I majored in broadcast journalism while working for HuskerVision. That job was awesome. I traveled with the Husker basketball and baseball teams for three years. My favorite memory was the entire 2005 Nebraska baseball season and our trip to the College World Series.

“Once I graduated, I moved to College Station, Texas to work for Texas A&M overseeing video boards, TV shows and website for the athletic department. College Station is where I met my wife, Shelby. We got married in 2009 and had our first child last September. His name is Jack and he is tops. Just last year I joined Hudl on the Business Development team. My focus is on developing our media presence.”

Who is your musical crush? What’s your favorite jam?
Katy Perry – Teenage Dream. She just gets it.

Can you write the review for a random Amazon product, please?
We recently purchased more diapers for our six-month-old. The review should actually read, “When baby starts eating solid foods, all bets are off. Do not count on these diapers to contain the disgusting aftermath. Use at your own risk. Consider these recommended purchases: Rubber Gloves, Face Mask, Hazmat Suit.”

What one song do you know every word to?
I am a horrible singer, but I love to sing. I torture my wife on long road trips. I don’t think I know all the words to any one song, but I know most of the words to a lot of songs. You know, come to think of it – I know a lot of Jewel songs. I dig Jewel. My favorite might be Foolish Games. I dig most female solo artists. That’s who I am. Take it or leave it.

Has Jack done anything awesome and new this week?
Jack is the man. Everything he does is amazing in our eyes. We have found the little things that make him laugh out loud. That is awesome. Right when I come home from work I can get him to smile and laugh. It’s the best way to come home after a long day in the office or on the road traveling.

In your opinion, how does the A&M atmosphere compare to Nebraska’s?
This is tough. I love them both for different reasons. In Nebraska, the entire state gets behind the Huskers. Every Saturday is special in Lincoln and the atmosphere around the stadium is electric. I have memories of going to games with my family when I was five years old. Growing up in the mid-90’s I didn’t think the Huskers would ever lose a game. At Texas A&M the 12th Man is pretty awesome. The students are what make that place amazing. I still haven’t been able to find a more dedicated student body. It doesn’t matter how good or bad the team is doing, they come out to support the Aggies. I have a ton of great memories at Kyle Field too.

What’s one thing you’ve done at Hudl that you’re the most proud of?
A lot of stuff goes on around Hudl. We have accomplished a lot in the year that I’ve been here. I’m most proud of the work our entire media team. We love making athletes look like pros and I think we are doing that every day.

Do you think there is life in outer space? What’s it like?
Yes. If you know me, you know I like extraterrestrial and paranormal topics. There is no doubt in my mind that there are alien life forms. They are probably living among us right now. Who knows? If they are out there, I like to think that they are kind. Movies always make them out to be disgusting creatures that want to kill off humans. What if they were really cool? What if they looked just like us and we became good friends? It could happen.
