Hudl Acquires APEX

APEX logo

I’m very excited to announce that Hudl has acquired APEX.

Please take a few minutes to read this post and I’ll explain what this means to you as a current Hudl partner:

Who is APEX?

They’re a well-established video editing company with a strong base of customers focused on the east coast. APEX has built a loyal customer base of more than 1,500 high schools that use their software and they have more than 10 years of expertise in sports video.

How does this deal benefit me as a coach, athletic director, or recruiter?

If you’re already using Hudl, you probably won’t notice much change. But there are some great benefits to consolidating APEX and Hudl’s customer bases:

  • More teams to exchange video with. APEX’s customers include some of the best sports programs across the country. This season you’ll be able to instantly trade film with them. There are more than 8,000 teams already using Hudl, and with the acquisition, that number will grow faster.
  • A broader pool of athletes with video for recruiters. This is a win-win for everyone. More athletes means more video which in turn means more exposure to recruiters.
  • Even better tools for you as a coach. We’ll be incorporating feedback from both of our companies’ experiences and all of our coaches’ knowledge to make Hudl even better.

If I’m currently using Hudl, is there anything I need to do?

Nope. For current Hudl partners, there is no change.

Keep using the software, contacting support, and giving us feedback as you normally would. Over the next few months, many of APEX’s customers will become Hudl partners that you can exchange video with.

Why did Hudl decide to acquire APEX? Aren’t you competitors?

APEX has built a broad, passionate, and loyal customer base. Why? Because they have great products that solve important problems for coaches. In that way, we’re a lot alike. We both want to help coaches win. However, our products are in a better long-term position to help coaches do that.

Technologically, our team can better react to new advances and incorporate them into Hudl. Our products were built from the ground up to work well online and with new mobile technologies like Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platforms. That’s where the sports video industry is headed.

What does this mean for the future of Hudl?

Our mission and values remain unchanged: We’re here to help coaches and their teams win. That means creating new and amazing experiences around our products, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies, and providing world-class support.

With an even larger number of teams using Hudl, we will also be able to accomplish a lot of really cool ideas that we have in the works.

Any other questions?

Feel free to contact our support team (support@hudl.com, (402) 817-0063) with any questions.

Thanks, everyone.
